NEIL SIMON’S ‘RUMORS’ – The Play, at the Holly Theater

6 Jan

NEIL SIMON’S ‘RUMORS’ – The Play, 1/13-15,20-22,27-29. Fridays & Saturdays at 8 pm, Sundays at 2pm.

Imagine, that there is a party where several couples have gathered at a posh suburban home celebrating their hosts’ 10th anniversary and several things are wrong, very wrong, including the hostess is missing and the host (the deputy mayor of New York) has been shot in the earlobe.

That’s where this classic farce starts and where it leads is a hysterical story of people trying to conceal details from local police and the media as stories crisscross and rumors build.

Playwright Neil Simon is most well-known for plays such as Odd Couple, Biloxi Blues, The Out of Towners, Good-bye Girl and The Last of the Red Hot Lovers and has been a Kennedy Center Honoree, has won four Tony Awards, six writer’s Guild of America Awards, and a Pulitzer Prize.

Opening on January 13th, Rumors will run three weeks with an exciting cast of players, many of which you have not seen on the Holly’s stage before. Directed by Daniel Martin, the play pulls from many of our local residents including Andy Ward, Melanie Pruitt, Josh Cagle, Charity Cagle, Stephanie Neuman, Richard Pace, Gordon Solumbk and coming to our stage for the first time, John Minnich.

Tickets: $15.00, Contact the Holly Theater at 706-864-3759 for more info or to order tickets.

Winter Has Arrived At Cedar House Inn

2 Dec

Yesterday evening Mary Beth looked outside and yelled “it’s snowing”. Flurries were blowing around with larger flakes sticking to the ground and trees. The leyland cypress trees were especially pretty with their green foliage sprinkled with the white flocking of snow like beautiful Christmas trees. The snow ceretainly can get you in the holiday spirit.

This time of year we receive guests at the inn looking for the winter experience and snow. We are hoping that this first snow is just the beginning of many more.

The mountain hiking trails are something to experience this time of year. The crowds have left and the leaves are off the trees. You can see for miles in total solitude.

Dahlonega’s Christmas lights are adorning the historic square to add to the festive season. The shops are decorated in a Christmas theme.

Book a room or yurt and enjoy this special time of year at Cedar House Inn and Yurts. Yes the yurts are heated and the beds have flannel sheets to help keep you comfy.

January Happenings Near Cedar House Inn & Yurts Near Dahlonega

4 Jan

January is officially here and a new year has begun. The Fall tourists have long left the area. January in Dahlonega can still offer a great weekend getaway.

The winter skies are spectacular this time of year in the evening. The stars are numerous and vivid. You can enjoy seeing the milky way in the dark evening sky. This month’s issue of Plenty Magazine addresses light pollution and mentions that two thirds of Americans cannot see the milky way from their homes. This is not the case at Cedar House Inn and Yurts.

Daytime hiking is also pleasant depending on the temperature. It is always a good idea to layer your clothing for outdoor activities.

Stay with us and attend Wolf Mountain Winery’s Winter Gourmet Dinner Saturday January 19th at 7pm. Call 706-867-9862 for information/reservations.

Blackstock Vineyards is open from 12-5 pm for tastings.

Come visit and try one of our eco friendly rooms or yurts.
